On 23 April 2025, SCP, in collaboration with the Journal of Building Design and Environment (JBDE), hosted an online academic seminar on the transformation from traditional construction practices to intelligent systems.

Professor Xiangyu Wang, Founding President of SCP, Member of the European Academy of Sciences, Editor-in-Chief of JBDE, and Professor at East China Jiao Tong University, delivered a keynote presentation entitled “Transforming Construction: The Shift from Traditional Practices to Intelligent Systems.” The seminar was chaired by Professor Jian Zuo from the University of Adelaide, Australia.

During the presentation, Professor Wang reviewed the evolution of intelligent construction and discussed how artificial intelligence, digital technologies, automation, and intelligent decision-making are reshaping the construction industry.

A key focus of the seminar was the concept of the “Engineering Brain,” which integrates data, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and intelligent decision-making to support more efficient and intelligent construction and infrastructure systems.

Professor Wang also highlighted emerging research directions, practical applications, and future opportunities in intelligent construction, while emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary research and international collaboration.

The seminar provided a platform for researchers, engineers, practitioners, and students to exchange knowledge on intelligent construction, digital engineering, and artificial intelligence.

Through academic activities such as this seminar, SCP continues to promote international collaboration and knowledge exchange in intelligent construction and manufacturing, supporting innovation at the intersection of engineering and emerging digital technologies.
