The International Society for Smart Construction and Production (SCP) is proud to co-host the JBDE Frontier Forum, an upcoming online academic lecture presented by Professor Ioannis Brilakis from the University of Cambridge. This forum will be held at 16:00, 30 September 2026 (Beijing Time) and is open to participants worldwide free of charge.

Digital twin technology empowers the whole-lifecycle management of civil infrastructure by creating high-fidelity digital replicas of built assets. It supports condition monitoring, performance assessment and intelligent decision-making for built environments, bringing transformative opportunities for cost control, schedule optimization, safety assurance and sustainable asset management. This forum aims to disseminate state-of-the-art research on twin systems and foster cross-border academic dialogue within intelligent construction, computer vision and infrastructure digitalization communities.

Keynote Speaker Profile

Professor Ioannis Brilakis

Laing O’Rourke Professor of Civil and Information Engineering, Director of the Construction IT Laboratory, University of Cambridge.

Professor Ioannis Brilakis is a globally recognized pioneer in construction automation, computer vision and infrastructure digital twins. He obtained his PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His prestigious accolades include the IAARC Tucker-Hasegawa Award, EC3 Scherer Award, Thorpe Medal and the US NSF CAREER Award. He has published over 300 peer-reviewed papers, served as President of IAARC and is one of the founding members of EC3.

His presentation will introduce the latest research outcomes from his team at the University of Cambridge, covering AI-based geometric modelling of infrastructure, automated visual defect detection, multi-sensor data modelling, mixed-reality mobile inspection, as well as real-world implementations for DfMA and proactive infrastructure damage protection.

This forum welcomes academics, postgraduate students and industry practitioners across the globe. SCP invites all researchers and engineers in smart construction to join this online event, exchange frontier findings and explore the future development of infrastructure twin systems.
