On March 7, 2026 local time, the General Assembly of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA) and the certificate presentation ceremony for newly elected members opened in Salzburg, Austria. The grand event brought together leading figures from the global fields of science and the arts. Professor Xiangyu Wang of the International Society for Smart Construction and Production (SCP) was invited to attend the ceremony and was officially presented with the certificate of membership of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, demonstrating the strong capabilities of Chinese scholars in international interdisciplinary research.
Founded in 1990, the European Academy of Sciences and Arts is a globally recognized non-governmental international academic organization. It consists of seven classes, covering fields such as the humanities, medicine, natural sciences, technical sciences, and environmental sciences. Among its more than 2,000 members are 37 Nobel Prize laureates. New members are nominated by existing members, and the selection process is known for its rigorous evaluation standards and interdisciplinary perspective. The Academy is committed to promoting academic exchange and collaborative innovation worldwide.
Also elected to the same class of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts as Professor Wang were a number of leading scholars who are already members of national academies, including Academician Wei Yang, former President of Zhejiang University and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Academician Glaucio Paulino of Princeton University, a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering; and Academician Bing Chen, a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering. The election of these distinguished scholars, many of whom have already reached the highest academic honors in their own countries, was one of the major highlights of the ceremony.
Professor Xiangyu Wang has devoted many years to the field of smart construction and is recognized as one of the key figures with global academic influence in this area. His election as a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts is not only a high recognition of his groundbreaking achievements in interdisciplinary research, but also an important reflection of the growing international recognition of China’s research strength in smart construction.
