The 11th International Conference on Intelligent Manufacturing and Construction (IPC2025), hosted by East China Jiaotong University, will be held in Perth, Australia.

On August 7, the 11th International Conference on Intelligent Manufacturing and Construction (IPC2025), hosted by the International Society for Smart Construction and Production (SCP) and co-organized by East China Jiaotong University and the State Key Laboratory of Safety and Resilience of Mountain Civil Engineering, was held in Perth, Australia.

The conference brought together leading scholars, industry leaders, and government representatives from around the world. Yaz Mubarakai MLA, Minister for Higher Education and International Education and Minister for Multicultural Interests of Western Australia, Bruce Reynolds, Deputy Lord Mayor of the City of Perth, Xu Changjie, Deputy Secretary of the CPC East China Jiaotong University Committee and President of the University, as well as several academy fellows attended the opening ceremony. The conference was held in a hybrid format, with four venues set up worldwide. Nearly 1,000 participants attended in person, and the live broadcast of the global opening ceremony attracted more than 30,000 online viewers.

At the opening ceremony, Xu Changjie extended a warm welcome to all guests on behalf of the co-organizers. He noted that East China Jiaotong University has long been committed to scientific and technological innovation and international development. He emphasized that the conference serves as an important platform for promoting international exchange and cooperation in intelligent construction and manufacturing, and provides an excellent opportunity for scholars worldwide to share cutting-edge achievements and explore future trends.

Bruce Reynolds stated that IPC2025 marks an important milestone in deepening cooperation between Western Australia and China in the field of intelligent construction, and expressed his expectation that the conference would bring new momentum to global sustainable development. Liu Guannan, Consul and representative of the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Perth, Academician Vijay Singh, representative of the International Society for Smart Construction and Production, and Senior Researcher Junbo Sun, Chair of the international conference, also delivered speeches, highly commending the conference’s contribution to promoting international scientific and technological cooperation.

The conference invited a number of internationally renowned academy fellows to deliver keynote speeches and share the latest research findings in the field. Professor Vijay Singh, a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, discussed water security and intelligent manufacturing. Professor Mirosław Skibniewski, a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Engineering, analyzed new challenges in the era of Construction 5.0. Professor Xiaobo Qu, a member of the Academia Europaea, explored the automation and vertical development of future public transportation. Professor Vivian Tam, a fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, proposed innovative solutions for achieving carbon neutrality. In addition, Professor Mark Billinghurst, a fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand, Professor Jack C. P. Cheng from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and six other guests delivered insightful presentations that sparked lively discussions.

That evening, the 2nd Annual Awards Ceremony of the International Society for Smart Construction and Production (SCP) was held. Xu Changjie, together with Chinese and international guests, presented awards to winners in seven categories, including the Lifetime Achievement Award, Excellence in Collaboration Award, and Community Impact Award.

In addition to the main venue in Australia, the conference also set up sub-venues in China, including the China venue at Shandong University, the Jiangxi venue at East China Jiaotong University, and the Jiangsu venue at Nanjing Institute of Technology. More than 20 thematic forums and over 200 academic presentations were held. The conference topics covered frontier fields such as artificial intelligence, digital twins, intelligent materials, and geotechnical engineering, attracting broad participation from academia, industry, and government sectors.

As the 11th edition of the IPC conference series, IPC2025 continued the high standards and international influence of previous conferences, providing a cross-disciplinary and cross-border platform for global scholars. As one of the co-organizers, East China Jiaotong University demonstrated its academic strength and international cooperation capacity in the field of intelligent construction. Looking ahead, the University will continue to deepen cooperation with global partners and promote technological innovation and sustainable development in the industry.
